Things like competitions would be a complete shitshow without the standardization/baseline the AHA has established. They are a tremendous resource for multiple tiers of the hobby (legislation, homebrew stores, industry engagement, and individual members). Without the AHA it's not an understatement to say the hobby may not even be accessible. Is it worth it? It furthers the hobby you've been enjoying for 10 years now. Over the years, the AHA has been an advocate for homebrewers and improving laws and regulations related to homebrewing in the US.In the past, I recall some members-only events around the country as well. Membership is required if you want to attend Homebrew Con or enter beers into the National Homebrew Competition (though both of these events are $$$).I occasionally use one of the discounts, and probably average $10 savings a year.(I will note that I am not crazy about the 2022 format where the just have the slides and the audio from the presentation.) The past Homebrew Con sessions are a wealth of information. There are a ton of good quality clone recipes, award winning recipes, and recipes from prior events/articles. The AHA site is my favorite source of recipes.Zymurgy is a decent magazine, and membership gives you access to past editions.I have gotten a few books and one year I got a pound of hops (Azacca I think). I often renew during one of their special offerings.IRC channel Specific Fermentation-Related Sub-RedditsĬider Mead Wine Brew Gear For Sale Distilling Spanish Homebrewing Subreddit Growing Hops Grainfather "Hold my yeast" - crazy fermentation ideas Prison Hooch - getting drunk for pennies Pro Brewing Kombucha Fermented Foods Automated Brewing If you can think of a good general link or even a better one than is currently posted please message the mods and let us know!
